In the previous feature, the factual information about how the KKK was established and the recorded tangible events were discussed to give this feature the context it needs. However, in this feature the topic of how the KKK is one of the most culturally destructive and dangerous cults will be muted. The Ku Klux Klan or KKK are undoubtedly one of the most famous extremist groups on the planet. Their cross burning ceremonies, violent treatment of African Americans and ghoulish hoods are what has made them so ingrained into people’s minds across time. Names for their members such as ‘grand dragons’ or ‘grand cyclopes’ have imbued the Klan with a nature synonymous with mythology. Black Metal is not a normal genre of music. Much like the Ku Klux Klan and the Nazis, most people hate it and not to mention its violent and anti-christian individuals. Scorned by the mainstream and loved by masses of metallers, black-metal isn't just a genre of music. It’s a collective of people who share a mutual passion for anti-religious ideologies, its advocacy for Satanism and of course the unconventional music which follows. Google's primary definition of a cult is a system of religious veneration and devotion directed towards a particular figure or object. Whilst I am not for one minute suggesting Justin Bieber's hardcore fan base is an actual cult per se, there is an argument to be made that 'Beliebers' have been known to show displays of cult-like tendencies. It is perhaps unsurprising that cults in video games are few and far between given the potential controversy that including one could arouse. However, from the players' point of view, those that have appeared in major titles have been truly memorable for one reason or another, whether it be their unbelievably illogical principles or for the moments of sheer terror they provided.
The American psychedelic rock group, The Grateful Dead, were founded in 1965 and are often referred to as procuring one of the first cult followings in rock music history. The term “Deadhead,” is a name given to fans of the famous counter culture band which was first printed at the suggestion of "Hank Harrison" author of The Dead Trilogy, on the sleeve of Grateful Dead (also known as Skull & Roses), the band's second live album.
